As She's Told: book review

2009-05-04, Seattle Erotic Arts Festival 2009

Dee and I flew to Seattle for the weekend to attend the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival. Our image Furgasm was accepted as a juried piece at the Festival. As one of only 300 pieces, including photographs, paintings, sculpture, audio-visual and even engineering works.

It was a very successful weekend. In particular, Mick got to meet Jeff Gord of House of Gord. Both he and Johnny Smokes had a devious sexual device accepted into the show as juried pieces. I was very pleased to see sexual engineering work accepted as erotic art.

Of course I was also quite proud that our piece sold during the show.

Here are Mick and Dee posing with their photograph at the Artists' reception on Thursday night. IG Frederick took the third photo:

Monk of Twisted Monk Ropes put on an amazing performance of 15 rope suspensions called the Bindings Project. He tied a wide variety of people (including the amazing DeLano) in a variety of positions and situations on a custom built stage using special hand-crafted ropes that were destroyed after the show was over. The stage was decorated in Warholish fashion with a dozen TV monitors showing live video of the scene and and assorted videos of rope performers. The live feed was also back-projected on the backdrop of the stage.

He also did a beautiful suspension of Sophia Sky while he was blindfolded. His show was even mentioned in the Seattle Times review of the arts festival.

Here's the only picture I got of Monk doing one of his suspensions as part of his

Rose and Scott are friends we haven't seen for a couple of years, but they drove in from Eastern Washington State. It was great seeing them, again.

Of course, we did some touristy things in Seattle. We stayed in a hotel very near the base of the Space Needle. We also visited the Pike's Place Market and a downtown seafood restaurant:
