Coming home from New York last weekend, we met with David Lawrence and his slave judy for an afternoon of food, rope, espresso and dessert. David is a professional photographer who is in the final stages of launching his own photography site dedicated to Shibari.

David does fantastic work...his fetish work is shot in black and white, with dramatic images resulting from so-called "low-key" lighting. He is also a traditionalist, restricting himself to specially treated hemp rope. The resulting images are striking and "arty".

As you can probably tell, Mick likes color, both in his photography and in his rope. Although Mick has traditional Japanese hemp rope, and will tell you it really is the best rope to use for bondage, we use a lot of colored nylon rope because it's simple, economical, easy on the skin and easy to care for.

Eager to learn, Mick took nylon in hand and followed along as David wrapped judy in hemp. Once both slaves were thoroughly bound, first Dee and then judy were hoisted into the air.

This was just supposed to be a lesson in rope, so we didn't plan to take photos. But once we had both girls in the air, we couldn't resist grabbing a few stills with the Canon Digital Elph.
