Mark DV8House's Takate-Kote

As taught by Kathleen and Sir Jaime to Mick and Dee at the What-Knot, June 28, 2009,
based on their notes from Mark DV8House's 2009 ShibariCon class,

I used Taipan's trick of taking photos while untying and then showing them in reverse order (these were shot on my iPhone). It's too bad this doesn't work in real life, because you could just put the ropes over the rope marks.

Charly B's photos on FetLife show the end result when Mark ties it (front and back).

This is "close but not right", according to Mark:

  Hey Mick

Looks ok.
A quick appraisal...

  • The knot in the centre of the back is one loop too complicated.
  • The second rope doesn't start from a hitch of the first rope; it starts at the core.
  • The lashing of the arm bands at the central core is all wrong.... you should take Zamil's instruction for those wraps.
  • The lower arm wraps are to wind down, not up like the upper wraps.
The rest is pretty close .....

The photo look great on Dee, and it's close enough to right, though as you know there's only 1 correct way, and 1001 variations.

I called this tie a DV8 hishi takote as I developed it from OS's sake barrel tie.

Osada said it's a hojo hishi.

I'll update this page once I've got a more accurate set of photos.
